Postgraduate Programmes

Institute Of Visual Informatics (IVI) was established with objectives to integrate multidisciplinary areas encompassing areas such as virtual reality, haptic computing, graphics computing, computer vision, visualisation and simulation, mathematical visualisation, and real image processing. Inline with objectives above, IVI has drafted four focused research areas: virtual technologies, visualisation and simulation, real image processing and social computing. IVI offers masters program by research and doctor of philosophy program in the field of Visual Informatics.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
 1. Master’s programmes should have the following qualification:
  • A Bachelor Degree in Information Technology / Computer Science from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or other universities approved by the Senate with a good Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 2.75; or
  • Other relevant qualifications or experience approved by the Senate.

2. Doctor of Philosophy programmes should have the following qualification:

  • A Master Degree in Information Technology / Computer Science from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or other universities approved by the Senate with a good Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 3.0; or
  • Other relevant qualifications or experience supported by institute’s Postgraduate Committee and/or approved by the Senate or
  • Currently enrolled in Master of Science (Visual Informatics) from University Kebangsaan Malaysia and supported by institute’s Postgraduate Committee to convert to Doctor of Philosophy programme, which approved by the Senate.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

1. International students are required to fulfill the English language requirement as follows (subject to changes from the PPS):

(a) Score not less than 550 in TOEFL or not less than 5.5 in IELTS for a particular programme.

(b) A candidate is required to take Ujian Kecekapan Bahasa Inggeris (UKBI) and if the candidate does not acquire the level set by the programme, the candidate is required to take and pass Modul Kemahiran Bahasa Inggeris (MKBI) within a maximum of two semesters before being allowed to enroll in the programme. Candidate will be registered as “Student without Certificate”.

2. International students who have the academic qualifications obtained from any local university approved by the Senate will be exempted from requirement 1(a) but are required to take Ujian Kecekapan Bahasa Inggeris (UKBI) and if they do not acquire the level set by the program, the candidates are required to take and pass Modul Kemahiran Bahasa Inggeris (MKBI).

3. Faculty/Institute may grant exceptions to the English requirement for local and international students from countries with English as the official language or have academic qualifications obtained from institutions that use English as a medium of instruction.
